Default Rock Chips on Front Bumper

I have noticed several rust spots on the front bumper on my TRX. It seems that the paint chips easily in normal driving and then rust forms on the bare metal. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm concerned that once the snow starts falling, this situation will get much worse.

It will get worse. One solution, which I used on my Chrysler 300, was a Clear Bra. Works great and has really saved the paint. I did it right after I purchased the car new in 2007 and I have NO chips in the front end.

So, I'd have the paint repaired then do something to protect it.

One other option is have the painter give you more coats of clear.

I've always wondered about how well those worked and the cost involved.

Mine turned out great, Remerson. I follow the "You Get What You Pay For" so I didn't go with the cheapest material or just any old installer.

I went with the 3M product and an installer who I know does a good job...he's been tinting my vehicle windows for years and won't use inferior materials.

He even redid certain sections to tuck a bit more material around and under some body panels as the material will shrink as they apply it and he was a bit short on some of it.

I got the entire front fascia, about 10" of the hood from front to back, same distance back on the front fenders, the back of the mirrors, the door handle pockets (the wife has long fingernails!), the leading edges of the rear fenders and the horizontal portion of the rear fascia at the trunk opening.

It's been 2.5 years and except for a couple of small blemishes (rocks that hit it - the paint is fine!) it's looking good!

I paid $450 for the job. I suspect that for those who don't have a hook up with an installer they've known and used for more than a few jobs that this would cost around $650 to $800. That's cheaper than repainting your front fascia, hood and other parts!

I just noticed one on mine the other day as well. Plan of get a jar of touch-up paint and stay on top of it.

Take a look at this...http://www.drcolorchip.com/

I haven't tried it personally, but might with the wife's car.
