think it will be better than the programmer though? I could trade him even right now, just wanting a second opinion. I just love the sound of a CAI.

If you're thinking about upgrading to the predator, I'd recommend it. I run the 91 tune on my '07 HEMI. It has the most dynamic settings that you can find in any tuner. If you're planning on tearing into the engine block at all for cams/heads to a complete stroker motor, the predator is what you want. Just make sure it's not VIN locked from your friend.

and yes, I was thinking about upgrading to the predator sometime in the future.

A throttle body spacer causes incoming air to flow different for better atomization of the mixture which in turn causes a better burn of your fuel. But were not using a Carb here... dont know what good they are for the layouts of the 5.7 intake manifolds the rought contour of your intake chanels should have the same effect. From what i've read.... TBS= Not really needed open up your airflow first. exhaust/ intake and the predator works great.

If you're buying a predator from your friend, just make sure he's loaded the stock tune back onto his truck, or the tuner won't work on your truck until this happens: aka VIN lock.

ok. i see what you're saying now, I need to set my truck back to stock before the info is on the programmer to download to his truck. It's my programmer and his cai. we were talking about trading and i can't really decide on what i want more. If I traded him, i was going to go ahead and get a tbs, but i almost hate to trade a $400+ programmer (although I got it a lot cheaper), for a cold air intake.

What kind of differences will a cai make to gas mileage on a hemi??

I'd keep the programmer and make my own CAI (assuming cost is an issue).

If you are thinking about upgrading to a predator, then I would trade for his CAI (I would ask for a little money also if you could) and go that way. Don't waste your time on a TBS, unless for the reasons mentioned above (like the sound, or going to use nitrous). The CAI has given some people a couple extra MPG, that is if you can keep your foot off the gas once you install it.

Also, I'm surprised no one else caught this. They didn't offer the HEMI until '03. So i'm kinda interested in how your buddy has an '02 HEMI.
