I dont think your lens cover being tinted would make much diff. If anything it could trap more heat inside the cover area making the bulb more likely to burn out. But not sure, it may only make a differance inside the bulb itself. I think the ones I had (hella and silverstar) died faster than normal is because I had daytime running lights, so they were ALWAYS on burnin hot

They say right on the package that they won't last as long as a halogen, but I figure that's the price of better visibility at night. I've seen plenty of halogens burn out within a years time before.

I owned my 09 Ram for 9 months when one of my factory fog lights went out. I replaced both of my fog lights with the Silver Star (not Ultra) bulbs and they are brighter than my factory head lights. I could actually drive at night with only my fog lights on and have no problem seeing.

I've been reading up on the Silverstar Ultras and came across a revew on advanced auto parts. The guy said that you need to wear latex gloves so you don't get oil/grease from your fingers on the glass and that's why they burn out quicker.

That's true of any headlight bulb. Skin oil is highly detrimental to them.

I installed the SiverStar Ultras in my car since I wanted the extra light. Mine lasted almost exactly a year to the day. Went through two sets over the two years, but, I do a LOT of night driving and average 25000 miles/year. Just my 2 cents!

My wifes in the minivan have lasted almost a year and a half. I am upgrading my projectors to HIDs, picked them up for $43 for 6k for DDM tuning, they are on sale right now.
