Default Front Bumper R&R

Bought a new 2009 Ram 1500 on July 27. Has 1,300 miles on it, take it camping and drive through an area (in the dark) I probably shouldn't have. Anyways, tires slid into a deep rut and the right side of my front bumper got pushed up a little bit (since the trucks new, a little bit might as well be a lot because I'm getting it fixed on way or another). Just searching for opinions and advice here. Should I first try to bend the bumper back in place using a jack (there is no visible kink in the bumper, so I thought I might try this first). Or should I just buy a new bumper and install it? Took it to a shop and they quoted me $860 for the repair. I can get the parts at online mopar wholesale stores for about 25% less than what they quoted me for parts price and thought I might be able to do it myself. Would you guys suggest me doing it myself. Once I get everything apart I'll be able to tell if the bumper brackets are bent and if I'll need to order any other parts besides just the bumper. Does anyone have a good resource for instructions on removing and replacing front bumpers for a 2009 dodge ram? I new to the forum and the forum's great. A lot of guys with a good amount of knowledge on here and I will be a regular poster as I start modifying my new ram (once it's fixed of course). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Dang, sorry to hear that. If it were me I would try and fix it myself, but you may run into more issues once the bumper is off. Havent actually gotten my hands on a 09 to check out the components, but I know on mine the bumper is the least of the worries (all the plastic spoiler stuff) I guess when it comes down to it, $860 isnt really that bad of a price to have your truck back to new. Good luck

Had this happen when my 64 F-100 got rear ended. Found out the bolts securing the bumper bracket to the frame had shifted, 10 minutes, a socket and an open end wrench later and it was lined back up. Hopefully it's the same for you since the bumper itself isn't bent up.

I bought my 2009 Ram with damage to the rear bumper and the tailgate. I got $2000 off for the damage. I bought a rear bumper the day I took delivery of the truck for $100 on craigslist, and I got the tailgate fixed and painted for an additional $325. The rear bumper went on easy and the brackets were not bent. I found a scratch on the back bed panel but it's not visible so... Do it yourself and save the cash!!
