Default 2008 mega cab 4X4 hemi

Just bought a 2008 mega cab 4X4 Hemi and have a few questions.
What programmer to get for best gas mileage, which CAI to get, what exhaust to get (would like to dump just before the rear diff), any other mods to do to make run faster and get more gas mileage. So far love the truck.

Welcome to the Forum!

Yes, intake, programmer and exhaust are the basic best bang for the buck mods.

BFI intakes seem to be popular for your truck. They are available from our supporting vendor Airflow Innovations right here on the Z.

Definitely get the Diablosport Predator programmer which is also available from several supporting vendors here. Don't forget the 180 degree thermostat.

Exhaust is problematic. So many choices and what sounds good to some doesn't sound good to others. I suggest you go on some of the exhaust mfgr websites and listen to their soundclips.

I like Magnaflow. Others like Flowmaster. Borla sounds really good on the HEMI.

One thing to consider...if you have MDS on that truck and run an exhaust system with no resonator, the drone will drive you outta the truck!!!

Yeah, good info on your basic first step mods.
Also welcome to the board, don't forget to stop buy the newbie forum and introduce yourself and take some pictures to show everyone. I'm sure a lot of people want to see your truck, there aren't a whole lot of mega cabs on the forum right now.

I have a Borla ProXS muffler and I love the sound, it's on an '09 though. No resonators either and it doesn't bother me. I have heard the the '09s aren't as bad with MDS on and no resonator but I couldn't say from experience.
I have a sound clip posted in the newbie forum.
For better mileage I suggest trading the truck in for a diesel. :-D

Oh yeah, the other plus of the ProXS is that it can be had for +/- $110
I went from single to dual after the muff with tips for <$250

The Mega cabs didn't come with MDS, so that's one less thing to worry about. Your present exhaust system (if it's a 1500) will look like the ones put on the 2500 Hemi's.

Check in the for sale section . One of our members ordered a exhaust system for his Ram and it was for a Mega cab . They wouldn't take it back . So hes stuck with it . He was willing to make someone a hell of a deal on it .

That was ScatPak07 I believe. Wonder if he still has it because it was one of the better systems out there.
