Default Oil pressure issue

Well the tempature has finally dropped into the 30's around here, and my oil pressure guage has started acting up. When I first start the truck when not warmed up, the oil pressure guage doesn't move. And then the "check guages" light comes on. So I shut the truck off really quick, and figured try it again. started it up again, and the oil pressure shot right up to normal. Now every time I start the truck if cold, I have to start it, shut if off, then restart to get the guage to read pressure. It doesn't seem like there is a problem, other than the guage itself. But I dont want to let it run and find out there is an actual problem. Once the guage reads pressure, it never fluctuates or drops again until the truck sits for a while. Was just curious if this is a comon problem, or if anyone knows what the cause of this could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Ian-

Some 2007-2008 Hemi models have a similar due to a software issue that is corrected by a PCM flash. I don't see any bullitens regarding any gauge or oil pressure issues for your year truck for any of the engines. My advice would be to have it double checked with a mechanical gauge to rule out a pump or loss of prime concern. It's possible that the pressure sensor is failing. Unplug the sensor and check for any leaks and pay attention to see if any oil is wicking into the harness. I've seen leaks like this lead to engine harness and PCM replacement a few times.
