Question Remote Start and Alarms, Fog Lamp Mod

Hey gang,
I've got a 2010 QC that came with remote keyless entry but apparently no alarm. I was going to add the Mopar remote start, but don't know if that module adds a perimeter alarm or not. If not, I'd have to add an aftermarket alarm, preferably one that uses the factory fobs.

Has anyone added OEM remote start and found that you now have alarm functions?

Has anyone tried adding an aftermarket alarm to a vehicle with remote start?

Finally, was tinkering with trying to get the fogs/driving lights to run like DRLs. So far, I've found pulsed voltages from 2.7 to 4.2 volts at the switch, but the fog light button merely dips the voltage at one wire while it's depressed. Anybody have any ideas on how to fool the BCM/ECM Can-bus (whatever it's really called) into letting the fogs run independently?

Thanks for any help!

Joe

Welcome to the Z!!! Are you saying you want your headlights/fogs to come on immediately when you turn the truck on? DRLs pass through a resistor to output lower power to lights for daytime driving, is that what you are trying? As for your question about the remote start, no, it does not have perimeter functions like an alarm would. My suggestion is to purchase an aftermarket alarm/remote start w/ the relays required for your truck. Glad to have ya aboard!

Default Thanks for all the welcomes and replies

I will update my profile shortly!

I'm trying to get the fogs to work independently of the light switch. I'd like t be able to use them without parking lights.

As for the alarm/remote start thing, so far even Chrysler doesn't know their own products. You can order the factory remote start/security package when they are building your truck, or you can add OEM remote start, but nobody (even Detroit) seems to know anything about the factory security system/option. Kinda sad, actually.

Don't want to carry 2 key fobs, so maybe I'll just skip the remote start thing and just do an alarm unless I can get an answer someday.

Thanks again,
Joe

Joe, I think (not sure on your year truck but it's common on other MOPAR products) that you have an option to order just remote start or just the alarm or a combo of both on one fob/program.

The techs might be able to isolate your fogs from the rest of the system by doing a flash. I know they can flash a European program that allows the fogs to stay on when you go to high beams.

You might talk with a tech, not a service writer, who specializes in the electronics of your model.
