I'd like to know how many of our EMS workers have seen fatalities by people not wearing belts because they were going on a short jaunt to the store. I don't mean to browbeat, I'm just curious.

Well, stop running around without it on. Most accidents occur within 25 miles of home!

I know, I know...you were wondering about the chime and I think you have your answer on that.

But really, put it on every time you get behind the wheel and go for a drive, no matter how long or short it is. I've lost two family members and for certain one of them would still be here with us today if he had only put it on.

To just answer you question, you can go to the wreckers and take the male end off of a wrecked truck (doesn not have to be the same year) and put it into your female end of the belt. The chime will stop.

As a guy that gets to go to alot of accidents.......please wear it.

I have seen quite a few killed or injured very seriously, but on the other hand I've had to unhook belts to pull a body out of a car. Even though it isnt a sure thing that it will save your life it absolutely helps. You should always wear your seatbelt.

Personally, I don't believe the government has the right to make you wear a seat belt. It creates a nanny state and is one less freedom we have. It may seem a small thing, but they all add up. If you don't wear one, and get killed, it wasn't too smart on your part. That said-I do believe they should be worn at all times on the road. Its stupid not to.
