I have had the Xtang series on my last 4 trucks. very nice, and for the money you can't beat them. I have had the one that snaps with the buttons and the other which is more of a tongue and groove fit, which I prefer because it is easier to put back on when it is cold out. I hardly ever use the bed of my truck, or in a manner in which I needed to remove them. It is more of a cosmetic addition for me.

I have bought them all at www.autoanything.com and all have come with free shipping.

No idea. I haven't ever owned a soft cover. Good luck with your choice!

What doesn't work for you...soft or a hard top???

sorry , should have been a little clearer. i need a soft roll up type cover. i jumped the fence to dodge after owning a crapalanche , two or three times a month id have to remove the bed cover panels and then was stuck with were to put them, i do alot of hauling stuff one way 300- 500 miles one way and when i get to the other end i have to drive back coverless cause i didnt have room to lug the cover panels with me so i said never again a hard cover.

so im looking for a rollup type cover but man there are like 8,000,000,000 diffrent makes and models of covers. dont mind payin a little extra for quality but they all look the same. so i figure no better place to find the right one than ask the people that have them.

Good luck with finding what works best.

Just from what I've read here, Truxedo makes a good one.

Yer right, I went and did some looking and whoa...there are a lot of them!

Yep, there is a lot of them and I have looked and seen numerous ones over the years. I still stick with the Xtang series. It will take you about 20 min to install the cover and when you need to roll it up, you unsnap it, roll it up, pull 3 support bars which are spring loaded and off you go. takes 5 min and that is with a beer in one hand.

This is the one I have. 242.00 and free shipping.

Hmm, honestly, I have not had to take them off too many times when it is that cold. The couple times I had, it was around 30 degrees and the cover had the snaps and it can be a bit of a challenge but it is still doable. On the support bars, you can set them for tighter (summer) or loose (winter) which will determine how tight the cover is. I always leave it on the loose notch.

The cover I have now is easier to put back together than the Extang with the snaps were, but by no means was it that cold out. leather likes to shrink in the cold, which I think you will have to deal with on any of them unless you go with a hard cover.

I have an extang tuff toneauo (however you spell it) and I love it. It stays tight and does not have much "flap" at all even on the interstate. It is the tounge and groove version and was not very exspencive. I love it.
