Default Replacement of front passenger axle on 2002 1500 4x4 w/ the 4.7

The front passenger axle on my 02 1500 is completely destroyed... It started acting up a bit on my way from Camp Lejeune, NC to VT and i didn't want to waste time dealing with it on the way so I basically limped it all the way in and now it is completely shot.. I don't think it would even go another 10 miles without the CV completely falling apart. I plan on replacing it myself (I've done quite a few in smaller passenger vehicles) but this is my first in a truck. I've got a cheepo auto parts store manual for the truck so I'm not looking for step by step instructions on how to do it cause I should be able to figure that out pretty easily. Mostly I am wondering if there are any problems that arise frequently, tips for doing it, things besides the axel that are worth replacing while I'm in there anyways, or any other words of wisdom that yall might know. Thank you in advance!!

You're gonna need a BIG puller and a bigger hammer to remove the hub bearing. Don't be surprised if you destroy the bearing in the process.

Agreed with that . Plan on buying a new wheel/ hub bearing before you start the job . More than likely you will destroy it getting it apart . Have fun , done them before . No ten minute job . Hardest part is getting the hub bearing off . After that your on easy street . Just be careful of the axle seal . If the axle shaft has damaged it , you may want to replace it also . You don't want to do this job again . Upon reassembly use plenty of antiseize on the need hub bearing , just incase you need to remove it down the road . Let us know if we can help in any way . I usually clean out the inside of the knuckle with a wire brush on a drill and then lay the anti-seize to it. Sandpaper works but takes a little longer.

Default axle and cv shaft tore up

i have an 06 1500 4.7 4x4 and i have been spending alot of money on replaceing everything in the front end. i just got it back from shop last week from having passenger side axle and cv shaft replaced it was destroyed the cv shaft actually fell off the splines and chewed them up in the process. now not even a week later the drivers side is starting to do the same thing. was wondering if everyone is having the same problem or im having alot of bad luck? it cost me 460.00 for 1 side so another 460.00 for the other is coming. i called dodge dealer for parts and they said there seeing alot of people coming in for same problem usually its drivers side though so now im going back for other side now. mechenic told me its a very bad design there isnt nothing to keep the water salt or what ever out of there so it will happen again.Why is dodge recalling this it seems to be a problem? Thanks for any input
