Default 4 wheel drive problem, frustrated

I have a 99 RAM extended, 4 wheel drive (obviously). Problem is it keeps clunking in low and high, while engaged. It's obviously dropping out of 4 wheel. Tried changing vacuum shift motor to no avail, checked vacuum lines, they are ok. Already checked shift fork for breakage or cracks. I don't know what else to check, It's no fun living in Chicago and not being able to use your 4 wheel drive that I've become accustomed to. Can anyone help me? I was hoping maybe some one else might have had this problem in the past. Please, please help!

Have you checked the vacuum switch on the transfer case? It's a pretty common failure.
