I'm excited that I just passed my National Registry Exam for EMT-Basic so I just wanted to post it here!
I was nervous as all hell for the two weeks that I had to wait to take my exam - And for obviously no reason.
I'm actually surprised that I passed, though, because even the "star student" in our class failed his first attempt. EMT-Basic might not be too much to some of the other guys on here, but I'm thrilled!
When I joined the Conneaut Fire Department (at 16 years old - I'm now 28), I never wanted anything to do with the medical side of things partially because our station (Station #4) only handled fire calls and occasionally, car crash calls - No ambulance out of our station... Well, actually up until about a year ago, I still wasn't all that interested in it. Because of local funding issues, etc., last year we consolidated with the other part-time/volunteer station (Station #3) where the EMS calls were handled out of (Fire and EMS) and I decided to give it a try. I ran a few squad calls here and there to help out, etc. and it grew on me. I decided to take the EMT-Basic course and now here I am - I just passed my test! I'm excited to get some calls and some experience in so I can go jump into my Paramedic class and eventually go full-time firefighter/EMS.
I got my National Registry EMT card a few days ago and now I'm waiting on my Ohio Department of EMS to send me my card for Ohio...
