Default Towing Mirror Extensions

I read in another post (can't find it) that there are other people finding that when you tow a wide body trailer, the stock Dodge extendable towing mirrors are inadequate.

I can't see to the rear when I tow my Weekend Warrior Widelight.

Has anyone found a slip on that will work when the mirrors are in the extended position?

I'm not up to spending a fortune for replacement mirrors that would extend further. A simple slip on would correct the situation. I've written CIPA Mirrors and inquired about an extension, but have not received a reply.

That is a good question, and didn't want you to think you were being ignored, but check out this thread: http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread....railer+mirrors. Seems like www.autoanything.com should have what you're looking for! Good luck!

Thanks Cajun. I'd already been to the AutoAnything site. $611 for a pair to replace the existing mirrors, and they only extend 4.25 inches. I'm not sure that will be any netter than the stock swing outs that are on the truck.

I'll keep looking and post if I find anything. I'm hoping that CIPA will take the hint and offer a slide on that will fit over the stock towing mirrors when they are in the out position.

Perhaps if several people with this problem contact CIPA, they will see that the market exists. The link to the Contact CIPA site is:

Received a reply from CIPA this morning. They do not have, and do not plan to manufacture, an extension mirror for the Dodge Towing Mirrors.

They recommend the Universal Towing Extension Mirror Part Number 11960. I'm not sure that this could be mounted on the mirrors when they are in the extended position.

I'll check out whether they can be used and report back.

I could be mistaken for what you want, but have you check autozone or your local auto parts store? There are usually some universal clip on mirror extenders for towing there. Here is a link to something that could be useful. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/cat...questid=798149 (scroll down a few)

That must be one helluva wide trailer! With the stock mirrors extended, I can barely fit a truck between the posts on one of my lifts at work. I have to retract and fold them in on the other one.

I picked up a CIPA Universal Towing Extension Mirror Part Number 11960. It can be mounted on the stock Towing Mirrors when they are in the outer position, and it places a convex mirror about 4" out further.

Looks like crap, but at least I can see around the trailer now.

Damn, how wide is this trailer? I have the regular "sport" mirrors on my '03 Ram 1500 and it's hard to see a bloody thing when I'm hauling our trailer. My '08 Ram 3500 has tow trailers with convex mirrors so I can see what's in my blood spot and I can see all around our 17' foot trailer. Works well. $600+ is too expensive.
