Default Wear & Tear

Hey Guys,

Thinking about a 4 inch RC lift and adding 35's to my Ram 1500 V8 Hemi (3.21 gears).

Three things holding me back:

1. Price. Local shop estimates at $5200
2. Possible Warranty issues down the road
3. Added strain on the transmission, brakes, engine.

I won't be doing extreme off-roading.

I guess my question is this. Can you convince me to go with the lift? Can you ease my worries?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Jon

You can do 35's with a level kit.

Less wear and tear.

Warranty issues only arise if the kit damages an OEM part.

No strain on transmission, brakes and engine.

I'd also suggest swapping out the 3.21's down the road. That will help deal with the increase in unsprung weight.

There is strain on brakes with heavier wheels and tires. Shouldn't be enough on trans and engine to cause failure without an underlying problem. BDS claims they will warranty your drivetrain for as long as you have factory warranty and they try to blame lift. I am getting a BDS 4" BDS lift and 35" Nitto trail grapplers put on for $4900 and it's a better product. Perhaps you should try to shop more

Shift, the 35's will fit but leave very little room for movement. Would you actually recommend them for someone who gets off road for hunting and work sometimes?

Thanks for the input. Forgot to mention that the $5200 includes Fuel wheels and Nito A/T tires.

So far, I am not being convinced to not do the lift

I have a 2.5" level and 35s and don't have any rubbing issues. I've flexed the suspension fully to test, so you should be fine with the right offset wheels. Mine are 20x9" +1mm offset.

Everything you do to your truck can increase wear and tear, even driving it. What I'm saying is that ten years down the road, a lifted mall crawler with 37's that has been babied will probably have less wear and tear than a stock work truck that has towed/hauled heavy loads everyday and been driven like a fool by some minimum wage employee that isn't paying for it.

I like the way you think! Now I just have to convince my wonderful wife to approve the 4 inch lift, new 35's and fuel rims.

BDS or Rough Country BTW?
