Question 3.7 Exhaust Note

Ok, its my turn to ask for some advice and opinions for a change! I'm wanting to change the exhaust note on my 3.7 and free up the flow a bit so I'm checking out mufflers. With my drag racing background, I'm naturally familiar with Flowmaster and Borla. I'm not wild about the sound of a Flow on a 6 cylinder and Borla is really more than I want to spend. What I'd like to have is a deeper tone similar to the Borla for under $100. I've looked at some different brands that I never saw at the track like Gibson and Magnaflow but can't seem to locate any sound bytes for the 3.7. So what I'm looking for are opinions and descriptions of different brands of free flowing mufflers. Thanks in advance!

I had dynamax muffler on my 2003 Dakota, it had a 3.9, but it sure sounded good, look into them, they were cheap too

hmmm...Dynomax ain't bad. You just wanna do the muffler???

Not sure if they have a setup for the Ram but a lot of V6 LX owners like the Blastin' Bobs setups. You might check them out.

Magnaflow has a nice deep tone without the trashcan rattle of the Flows and the cost of the Borla systems.

Yeah, I plan to cut out the stocker and weld in the replacement. Duals would look cool but I doubt it would yield any performance gains. I've looked closely at the Gibson and like the interior design plus I've heard a truck like mine with one and it sounds good. I'm considering the Magnaflow but don't know what series will give me what I'm looking for.

Gibson is at the upper end as far as cost but the sound is great.

I went with the Magnaflow 15771 series catback. It's a single in/dual out arrangement.

Remembering I have a 5.2L, here's what it sounds like:

Yeah, the Gibson isn't the cheapest, but it does fit within my $100 budget. The Magna sounds good.

My local exhaust shop did the deed for me. He had one laying around and gave me a good price, installed, of $400 + some shop labor trade. We've helped each other out with stuff like his old full bodied front engine dragster and some of my old projects in the past.

For this trade I helped him strip down the old dragster, pull the powertrain, body panels and re-do some of the frame/roll cage so it would be legal again. I learned a bit about doing NDT work on welds, tube bending and welding. It was fun.
