Default ALL Military/DOD... Gov't Shutdown 2011

I know there are quite a few military personnel around this site, myself included, so I thought I would post this as it pertains to us. Just a heads up, we might not be getting a paycheck April 1st...

I'm out of the military, but a government employee now, and I feel your pain...

I've been through this. They didn't suspend the military pay. Probably because the government don't want the muzzles pointed in their direction. Also, consider that not paying the military would compromise the missions assigned.

There are other ways not to spend money and freeze expenses without putting our armed forces at unnecessary risk. And they can continue their temporary allocation to the military and still stop other allocations. We need everything to continue to flow to our forces.

If we keep borrowing from China we won't have any money to pay the military. And if you don't pay the soldiers they flat out won't come to work anymore, thus no one to defend you. You think China knows this? Yup. You think our leaders know this...Yup. I wouldn't worry too much because they can't risk not paying us. It just goes to show how the world is a financial war now more than a physical one, IMO

I have heard a lot of rumors about this. I cannot see this happening it would be political suicide for both sides if the military did not get paid.

I don't believe it would be political suicide for both parties. Just the one that holds the White House and the majority in the Senate.

Yeah I saw this on military.com @ my office. More than likely it will be like last time. They will pass a last minute measure to protect military pay and allowances, but don't even think that you will be able to order any parts or supplies. Those funds will be gone. Already got the brief on that.

I know what your saying but congress will have to pass the budget as well so if it doesn't happen they will be in a world of hurt as well.

Been in 27 years and never thought our goverment would stoop to this level and tell our folks keep defending us with no pay. Will say this though and most of you will agree. Not going to let anyone just come over here and take my freedom away or yours for that matter. There are to many men and women who died for me to enjoy mine. Many thanks to all who serve.
