i had the same issue with serv 4x4 light, dealer told me it was a sensor and the steering wheel angle was not working properly with the wheel speed sensor. they cleared the code and so far so good.

Mine was the FDCM like Ram Tech said. Seems like a common problem.

I have a 2010 Laramie, and in about a month I've had three issues with the Serv4wd. First the truck went into 4wd, but it would not come out. Dealer replaced the shift motor "actuator".

A few weeks later the light came on a gain, dealer found nothing, reset the computer. The next day it came on again, took it back. This time the dealer said it was a faulty engine coolant temperature sensor (they told me if this fault the computer would show a serv4wd). They replaced it, drove it for about 2000km with no problems.

Today, again 4wd light as soon as I shifted into 4wd, before even moving, and again it would not come out of 4wd. Dealer said the shift motor "actuator" was faulty and replaced again.

Very annoying! If this happens again I will have to bring up the drive train control module. Thanks for the thread!

Yeah, good luck with this. Be sure and keep track of all communications and visits. I had to invoke the lemon law once and keeping good records saved me.

I have an appointment for tommorrow am, sure hope the dealership doesn't start pointing at my bilsteins and saying they did this. I'm thinking of printing out a few replies from this thread just to have if they do. I have to say that my experiance with this dealership has been less than confidance inspiring. Its too bad because they are the only one around me

So after half a day at the dealership I'm told they could not get the light to come on sooo no problem to look at end of story. If it comes back on bring it to them with it on. Its come on 6 or 7 times in the last two weeks but they didnt see it so I dont have a problem. Oh yeah and the grinding noise i hear when i lightly spin the tires from a stop is normal its the traction control doing its job even though it does it for a second or two BEFORE the traction control light comes on and when the traction control is shut off. Like i told the tech I took on a test drive I guess I'll just drive it until it breaks and bring it in then

Frustrating trying to get intermittent problems fixed. I had my first good experience at the dealership today. They changed my oil without any problems. There is hope.

Funny thing Rattlecan my change oil light came on yesterday! I was going to tell them to do it while it was there but thought I 'd wait and see how this went first. After I left I went to a lube place and had it done screw them they wont see any money of mine that I absolutely don't have to give them. I went with Mobil1 synthetic

Default Mine too

My 2010 Ram 1500 did the same thing. Turned out to be a sensor in the transaxle....they replaced it!
