Default Adding options..

i bought my truck as a demo and am wishing i had a few options it didnt have when i got it. was wondering if anyone has gone back after the fact to have options or features added to thier trucks. im thinking of getting remote start and navigation for mine, but really want dealer/factory stuff. i really wish i had electric azz warmers but that i know will be a ton of work.

The remote start and nav are fairly easy to put in, but the vehicle congifuration will have to be updated by the dealer for them to work. I haven't seen anyone add seat heat, but if the wiring is already in place, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Truly, NAV won't be hard and neither will the remote start.

Are you a do it yourselfer? If so, the NAV is easy. You can get the head unit, receiver and antenna off eBay and put it in yourself.

MOPAR has a great remote start system you can get from your dealer.

The seat heat option will require some wiring and switches to the console but it can be done. We added seat heat to a Magnum SRT8 this year with the factory parts.

Nothing is impossible...you just gotta decide how much you wanna spend.

question is if i install the remote start or the navigation myself will it void any warranty issues i may have ? when i bought it i asked about lifting it and was told using aftermarket lift would void some of my drivtrain warranty unless i used dodge parts to lift it.

remerson any ideas what it cost to have the dealer install a remote start ? and will it work off the key i have now ? many may not agree with me here but stuff like installing a remote start or the navigation id leave to the dealer. im getting to old to be crawling around under cars and dont trust my stuff to the corner stereo guys to hack up full of butt connectors and scotch locks.

Typical corporate mantra. But, if you mod your truck and the aftermarket part fails that you added, of course you have no warranty through Dodge. Also, if that part causes collateral failure of a OEM part, warranty is void.

I agree with your approach here. Let the dealer do it. They warranty the parts and workmanship of the labor.

$200 for an aftermarket remote start? It better do more than just start the engine for that kind of money.

agreed. I can get a remote start here for $149.99 installed. they should be able to keep it on the same kind of key. but they wont be able to put it on your key. they will have to get a new key FOB and program it to your truck. probably charging you another 100 in the whole ordeal.

For the heated seats, Mopar sells a kit (which is re branded from another company). You will have to add 2 switches somewhere on the dash but other then that it's almost like factory.

If you want factory, it will run you close to $800 if not more to do it yourself. You need the heating elements, module, wiring, switches.

In the spring I will be installing the factory option in my truck with heated steering wheel. I will post a write up with pics and part numbers. I don't have everything for part numbers yet as I put it on the side burner till the warmer weather comes.

Should be a little more info here:
