The difference would lie in the TIPM rather than the PCM. My guess is that the Canadian and fleet models use pulse width modulation to operate the DRL's. If this is the case, the I would think it's just a matter of programming but when we hook a scan tool to the vehicle, we aren't offered a choice of what software we install. I'm going to research this some more and see what I can dig up.

Mine has them and it's weird because when you use your turn signal whatever side is signaling that headlight turns off.

Yeah, but we're talking about the DS body though, not the DR. It's a whole different truck.

Ya I knew it wasn't adding anything to the conversation but I've been wondering why mine has them and pretty much every other Ram I see around town doesn't but I'm guessing that's because mines a fleet vehicle. Now is there any way of disabling it?

I took my '09 Quad 5.7 in and asked them to turn on the DRL.
They did it in abt 10 min. They hooked it up to something. No charge either.

In the intrest of settling this matter, I just went and got a '10 Ram Laramie Crew off the lot and hooked the scan tool to it. I searched the vehicle prep and customer preferences and there is no option for enabling DRL's. The only thing that can be done with the lamps is setting the delay time after the ignition is shut off, setting the illuminated entery time, and programming the auto lamps to come on with the windshield wipers. So as for now, unless you have a fleet or Canadian model, DRL's are not an option. As soon as I can get my hands on an '09 model I'm going to double check it as well, just to be sure.

I was told the truck pulsed the current to run the lamps at 1/2 the normal voltage.
My Ford used a voltage dropping resister to run the lights at 75%

Yeah, they're pulse width modulated on the Canadian and fleet models.
