Default Truck jerks forward on tight turns in 4wd

Hi Guys/Gals,

Have had my truck for about 3 weeks now and I love it. Roads and parking lots were a bit slippery yesterday so I just threw it in 4wd to get to the store and back. I took a tight turn into a parking spot and when I slowed down, the truck started jerking and lunging forward almost as if I was hitting the gas and then breaking real quick. I thought it might be a one time thing so I went another spot in the parking lot and when I turned the wheel hard it did the same thing. After taking it out of 4wd, it stopped. Any ideas what this could be?

I thought maybe it was the front tires slipping on ice and then catching on pavement but I was able to recreate the problem on dry ground too. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

Normal operation when in 4x4 . Thats what they do . Would be advisable to put it in 2wd at that point . Try and avoid sharp turns on non icy pavement .

really?! that's kinda surprising to hear. Don't get me wrong it's a relief but I just wouldn't have guessed that was normal. Thanks for the much appreciated help - I'm still a newbie so I'm sure I'll learn more as I go along. Thanks

one matchup: asking in a forum to get a quick answer vs. finding a manual (hard copy or on the internet) and searching through 200+ pages for what I'm looking for. Easy call. Thanks for the productive post.

first truck, first 4x4, first anything other than a 4 door car. I'm about as newbie as it gets I suppose. I appreciate your patience though.

I suppose if referencing the manual were easy, everyone would do it...

Unfortunately my truck didn't come with its manual. I did a quick search on the internet and was only able to find sites selling the manuals and not the actual manual itself so I figured I'd just ask on here. I'm sure it won't be the first "dumb" question I ask so please bear with me.

I never understood why people refuse to leave the owners manuals in their vehicles. I've got access to Chrysler service info, so if you need something specific, just ask.
