Default Staph infections

As many of you have known , I have been fighting off a staph infection that hit me in March of this year . I believe I contracted it from the hospital visit I had in July of 08 . I had right knee surgery done as a out patient . Doctors didn't saw it wasn't possible , they said they do everything possible to prevent this from happening during surgery . It made it's home on my right lower leg and has done a number . It August of this year it flaired back up on me again . Pretty scary . Doctors started treating the wound and saw some decent results . Finally looking better . But , shortly there after I had a spot appear on the right side of my abdomen . Looks like the same shit . I decided that enough was enough . Tired of all the antibiotics I've been on . Appears this is a superbug that antibiotics can't touch . I decided that as long as it didn't get any worse , that I was gonna try and let my body build up an immunity to it by itself . It looks like it is doing better . Made me speakout about this because I just saw this article on my homepage and got my attention . So to all out there just be careful when going to the hospitals even to just visit . Use the hand cleansers that are available . Every little precaution could save you from the grief that I have been going through . Heres the article by the way . http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/...atoadaptthrive

Tom do you know if what you have is MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus). It's a bacterial infection that is really common in hospitals, specially operating rooms. If this is what you have, then you might not want to let you body try to cure itself. If it is MRSA I would advise you to get checked out and if you have to, then see a specialist.

Tom i got to agree on that. M.R.S.a and V.R.E are common in hospitals as well as C.Diff. Sometimes it does take a long time with antibiotics. WE see it in the fracture room quite often. If you have to have long term antibiotics hopefully they give you a PICC instead of the plain IV sites in the arm.Good luck and i know its frustrating but please look in to the best treatment.

Well it's good to hear that it wasn't MRSA. But either way, you should get it checked out to make sure that you get it cleared up. Bugs are very tricky to treat sometimes. Left untreated it could lead to sepsis which is not a good thing at all. Hopefully it's nothing serious and maybe all you need is a antibiotic cream but you should make sure at least.

MRSA is a staph infection- that's what the "S" stands for. All MRSA infections are staph infections, but not all staph is MRSA. I don't think it matters exactly what they call it, sounds like what you have is a resistant bug. Might want to check with an infectious disease specialist, if you haven't already. Best of luck!
