Yep, gotta love 4WD! I ended up on Burnside and just stuck it out...there were a LOT of cars stranded up there. And the ones that were moving were, for the most part, hilarious to watch. I almost got nailed a couple of times by folks trying to navigate Burnside with NO traction devices whatsoever!

26 is my normal route out to Hillsboro but that was pretty much a No Go. Just before I got to the I5/I405 ramp out of Lloyd District where I work, they closed that ramp. So I stayed on I5 North, figuring I would take the Hwy 30 Bypass out to the industrial area and take Cornelius Pass. That ramp was also closed. So, I went up to Jantzen Beach, got something to eat, then snaked my way back towards downtown on Interstate, which was pretty easy going.

I405 was closed at that point (I could see a line of cars on both decks of the Fremont Bridge...sitting still) so I went on to Broadway, thinking to go downtown and catch 26 at Jefferson. No go...

So I headed up Burnside and committed to stop flailing around for an empty route and stick with that direction.

Hindsight being 20/20, I could have headed over the West Hills on the side streets and come out at Sylvan but that didn't come to me until my 2nd hour stuck on Burnside...LMAO

My regular commute route:

The entrance ramp I normally would use. I never got a chance to get even close to this spot. Traffic was backed up a good 4 miles from here when I left the office:

A little bit West of the ramp another mess:

Thought this was cool...a great perspective of some snowed in Xmas lights:

One of the guys over at the 300Z site suggested I put a snowmobile in the back of the truck just in case...LOL
That looks a lot like Houston traffic on a dry day!

Thanks for the pics. When they get snow in the south, they just shut down til it melts. No snow removal gear at all. Only happens once every 5 years or so.

Looks crazy . Most of that is caused by people who can't or are just paranoid to drive in it . They should stay where their at and call for a cab or someone to come and get them .

Funny you say that Tom as I had a lady in a Mini Cooper park on the street next to my shop and waited in her car for about two and a half hours for a cab. Not sure how the cab did in the snow as it was a mini van and they were littered all over the sides of our roads.

Well, at least you home safely. 7 hours, eh? Hell I would've just waited it out at an IHOP or something. Come home all fat like a Thanksgiving turkey. Having 4x4 capabilities rocks though. I can't imagine not having it. After owning three vehicles, two with 4x4 and one with AWD, I will never own another FWD or FWD vehicle again.

Sleeping bag? Damn. At least someone knows to stick with their car rather than to walk away from it!
