Default Sound system suggestions?

Ive got a 2006 quadcab sport with the terrible stock 4 speaker system. Just wondering what you guys thought would be a good economical replacement i was thinking alpine speakers with possibly 1 12" type x sub or two type r subs.

I replaced my stock system in the Chrysler and the Ram with Infinity Kappa Series speakers. Love 'em!

I am running an Alpine Type S amp and sub in the Chrysler. Love those as well.

I'm running an Alpine CDE-9874 head unit in the Ram.

I'm not as fond of the Alpine spkrs as I am of the Infinity units but they aren't a bad spkr.

I was just pricing something like what you have (Infinity) on Crutchfield today.

These days the price of higher quality car audio is going down. Infinity, Sony, Pioneer, Rockfort Fosgate, etc. are all at fair prices, so shop around. Be sure to watch the RMS and THD as they're really important.

Also, don't forget to match spkr ohm rating to head unit or amp output rating. Mismatch this and it won't sound good, no matter how much you spend on components!

I dont know whats the best out there nowadays. I just purchased two pair of JBL's for my doors. They are supposed to be decent speakers. Boxing day sale total i think was $150 for 4. Know the fun part taking the dang door panels off
