Default Media System Grace Note Upgrade

Hi all, does anyone have the 430 Media system? I bought a brand new CD the other day that it didn't recognize... For the life of me I can't figure out how to manually name the album and the songs in the hard drive... Can this be done?

Can you update Gracenote on it, or will all new future music just not have info?

Thanks! And Happy NEW YEAR!

any idea how this gracenote thing is supposed to work? I've read that it's supposed to recognize and tag your songs for you, but I've got more than a few that I imported and it didn't import artist or song title at all. Not sure if this is supposed to be an automatic thing or what- just read a little about it in the various owner's manuals, but didn't see anything about how/when it works

Don't pay for the upgrade, I found a link at the Challenger Forum and I downloaded it for free and it works great. I am sorry but for the life of me I can;t recall the link but it is easy to download, burn to a CD and takes about 30 minutes to upadte

anybody know if it's supposed to identify your songs when you're importing them or if there's a way to tell it to try to recognize the songs you've already uploaded?

If the CD is in your Gracenote DB, it should identify your songs.

See the link I posted above for info on how to update your Gracenote DB yourself, for the cost of a blank DVD-R.

This site is a good site.
You can download and burn to a disc the firmware updates and gracenote updates from this site for free. You will need to know what version of software you have. On this site you can look at the history of when the updates came out, and what isuues this update fixed and what new features were added.
On the Gracenotes it works the same way.
I used this site and burned the newest versions of firmware and gracenotes and it worked perfectly for my RER.
NOTE: these are not NAV updates, only firmware and gracenotes. The NAV updates are done thru NAVTEQ and are not cheap.

ALSO if your version is more than 2 versions older than the most current, you may need to install the other updates in the order that they came out. Sometimes trying to add the newest version onto an old version doesnt work out.

My REN had 9.214 and GN 881 (I think those are right) from the Factory.

I upgraded mine straight to 9.292 and GN 2057 (using the stuff I downloaded from MOFV.com) with no problems.
