Default Newb question

New to the forum, came with a question.

So my dad's one of those guys that you just can't buy anything for because he already has everything he wants... I just thought of something when I saw a newer Dodge Ram earlier... He's got a 2002 Ram 2500. It doesn't have the extending mirrors on it, just the plain ole factory electric adjustable mirrors. He's got some cheap ass clamp on extenders that he puts on it when he's hauling a wide trailer or his pick up camper. I noticed the newer rams have mirrors that will fold in, up or out... Anyone know if those mirrors will fit on an older generation Ram without any kind of custom fabrication? Thought about trying to buy him a set for his birthday if they'll fit.

Like I said, it's my dad's truck... As far as I know he hasn't really done anything to it, he lives in Indianapolis and I live in Oklahoma City... so I'm not up to date on everything he does to his vehicles lol

Couple things I know of that aren't OEM... He custom made a tie down setup for his pickup camper, took some square steel tubing that matched the inner diameter of the sides of a Reese hitch receiver welded hooks on the ends. Slide the tubing in to the sides of the hitch, and use the hooks as the rear tie down points for his camper, then the front tie downs, he welded some hooks to one long square tube that stretches across the front of the bed, then takes and S curve to go through holes cut in the bed and comes out between the bed and the cab... hooks on the ends of that bar are his front tie downs.

Kinda hard to explain, I'll see if I can get pictures sometime.

He also welded some tubing to his cherry picker so he can mount it to his hitch receiver so he's got a mobile cherry picker.

Just dug around on my computer for pictures of it, can't seem to find any though.

Like I said though, it's an 02 Ram 2500 4x4 Diesel. Extended cab, long bed, Patriot Blue, chrome tube steps and chrome tube brush guard. Leather interior, automatic transmission... bout all I can think of, pretty much stock.

If anyone knows anything about whether or not the mirrors from a newer one will fit though, any information is much appreciated

I don't think they will but the only way to be 100% sure would be to get measurements of the mounting studs.

Welcome aboard! Can I get you to talk to my son? I told him I wanted something for my truck and he got me a two pack of wax!

Glad you solved your problem. Stick around - this is a pretty neat place to hang out.
