Thanks again. Actually I'm not one of the folks ashamed of having the surgery I'm just disappointed at myself for getting into such a state where I had to do it. (A few "maybe" excuses why and a couple of valid ones too why it happened but I'm not getting into that here.) I'm truly one of the fortunate ones physically, mentally and fiscally who could do it and I really feel for those who need the surgery but can't. Some are simply in too bad of physical shape to have it. And many people absolutely can't get their head around volunteering to be cut on, heck I had several second thoughts about that myself. My health insurance plan paid for most everything but I still had right at $2k out of pocket in the span of 9 months I had to cover and lots of folks that want the surgery simply can't swing that part of the process. Yes I am very fortunate.

Anyway, enough talking about the whys and why nots. Big news is that as of this morning I went over the 20 lb mark, hitting 22.5 lbs lost, since my surgery 12/30. Add that to the 15.5 I lost in December from the pre-op diet and I'm sitting here 38 lbs lighter than a month ago. Can really tell a difference and I'm damn near giddy looking forward to the ride ahead.

I did talk to my wife about her support for the women out there that will surely want me once I hit stud size - let's just say that now I've got a couple of other things that are going to be blue for awhile.

Evening all. Mom (you know who you are) got on me tonight and said to post an update so here goes.

Nothing much really to say. Still dropping tonnage but hit a small plateau. Only dropped a couple of pounds over the past two days but I'd been on pure liquid so long, and as I continue to heal, I've been getting hungry between meals and been giving in a little. That should turn around in a day or two because of my nice milestone today though. I transitioned to semi-solid food and had some for real honest to God straight from the Kraft box Mac & Cheese. Let me tell you it was DELIGHTFUL. And tomorrow for breakfast I can have a scrambled egg and some Cream of Wheat.

Now that I'm getting something more solid it's not passing straight through my stomach like the all liquid diet and I haven't been hungry tonight. Just having a little something in the "pouch" to digest has made a big difference. Still glad I did this and working toward the goal!

OK Mom, better?

Congrats on the weight. Your right the recovery is NOT a cake walk, but will be well worth it. A friend of mine had it a few years ago and is now fit as fiddle and mountain biking like a madman, he's no kid either. One of the side benefits for him is it cured his diabetes. Go figure! Take heart and don't sweat the plataues, they will pass.

Congrats Dennis on the loss so far, that is awesome! It isn't just "Mom," but we all care about ya' and how you're doing, and if she didn't ask for an update, someone would! Glad to hear you can eat something you can actually sink your teeth into, that has to be great! I am happy and excited for ya' that you seem to be recovering well!!!

I agree, this is a family on here, and while 'MOM' may hound you a bit more, there's lots of people rooting for ya. Keep at it there Dennis.
