They used that test for PCM's too! The right way would be to watch the MAP voltages with a scan tool and compare the vacuum readings against a mechanical vacuum gauge.

right on the front of the tb, you have to remove the air filter housing to even see it.

I just talked to the dealership where I got it. I told him the symptoms, told him the alternator and battery checked out. Also that there were no codes.

He said I took the words out of his mouth.

He did ask if I top it off. Didn't know that would be a problem, but I don't.

He said that he is stumped and would like me to bring it in. I told him I'll get back to him.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's at a full tank now, and it is dying. It is getting progressively worse.

A fuel pressure gauge and scan tool would be invaluable right now.

I just got done dropping my sister off at physical therapy and when I got back out to the truck to start it, it hesitated on start up. It made the cranking sound, then a pop, then cranked again and started fine. I turned it off to try to replicate it, and nothing happened. It was definately was not a backfire, it sounded like something smashed together hard. like a hammer to concrete. What in the heck is this?
