Default Exhaust before rear tire

There are no articles about this topic. I've seen the 2 rectangular exhaust tips right before the rear tires. But cant remember on what truck. It did give a different look and a niiice sound.
Will that make it louder in the cab?
Will it hurt or help performance?
Where do I go to even look for it?
What's that exhaust system called?
Are there any exhaust systems for our trucks that sound like the mustang?
Dont really want to add a full cai until exhaust is on.

It will be a bit louder in the cab but a lot of what sound you experience in the cab has to do with what muffler is chosen.

It won't hurt performance unless you crimp the pipe too much (narrowing the diameter) to get the bends in. My suggestion is to use 2 45 degree bends, the first one close to the muffler, the second close to where the tip will come out from under the body.

I've done this before and the only place I saw it was on my truck when it got done by a local shop. I couldn't find a pre-made kit for this kind of system for that particular truck.

I think they call it a shortened side exit. Have you perused any of the truck exhaust websites?

Flowmasters will make your truck sound kinda like a Mustang but different types of engines will sound different with the same exhaust system on them.

It really doesn't make a difference which comes first, cai or exhaust, as long as you eventually do both. They complement each other.

JC Whitney has some side pipe/side exit exhausts. Check out their website.

Gibson makes one with the dual rectangle exhaust tips. Called the Super Truck system or something like that.

I am looking at doing this to my truck, except just replacing the muffler, and using the stock tailpiece welded right to it. That way I retain the stock look, just moved up in front of the rear tire and with a little more growl.
