Default 2500 Owners

Just wondered how many 2500 owners are here and what mods they have. Mines an 09, 5.7 hemi, tinted windows, tow mirrors, line-x, undercover tonneau cover, swing box, mud flaps, and electric (trailer) brake controller. Great truck, but I think the high tire pressures make for a bumpier ride than necessary. There's plenty of power on tap, so I'm not thinking about any engine performance mods at this time. What mods do you guys have???

Mark

I have a 2010 2500 on order right now. First mods to it will be tinted windows, Line-X, 285/70R17 BFG All terrains cold air intake, louder exhaust system and a train horn. Most likely will do a tune as well. Problem I am finding is that with it being the new generation the aftermarket companies do not have alot of parts out yet. At least this gives me time to save up cash for mods.

Seeing that you have a trailer brake control, you must do some medium to heavy duty hauling. Why didn't you go with the Cummins? From my personal experience the Cummins was a poor choice, but most people I know of go with a diesel when owning a 2500/3500.

If your 2500 is a 2009 you should not need the steering box stabilizer as it has been upgraded from factory to reduce steering wobble. If you are doing any real heavy towing 11,000lbs or more you might think about transmission upgrades if you are running an automatic or clutch upgrades if you run a standard transmission. Any towing over 12,000lbs get a Cummins

If you get the Cummins with the 65RFE it comes with a tranny cooler. Funny, I've hauled loads of roughly around 12,000lbs with my '03 Ram 1500. I've hauled much heavier loads with my '08 Ram 3500.

I didn't go with the diesel because I tow only once a month or so. It is not good to run a diesel to the store and back without allowing time to warm up. Dealers replace a lot of turbos because of that, I hear. I have diesels in a bigger boat and I love them, but they also love to run under 80% load, and I don't tow enough for that. The Hemi has plenty of power for my needs right now.
Thanks for the comments.

Yeah, you will have to wait for the aftermarket updates. It has plenty of power and the exhaust should look great if it is like the 1500. Train horn will sound great, but is pretty involved and takes up a lot of space I thought of that too. Unless you really need extra traction, I would wait til ya need new tires to upgrade. That's expensive and the mileage will suffer. That's gonna be a beautiful truck! Good luck! Did you negotiate a good price????

I am a Navy veteran and member of USAA which gives member pricing for auto. When all is said and done I will be a bit below invoice. Right now there is a $1000 off incentive that goes through March 1st, just hope my truck gets here before then or they up the incentive come March. The one 2010 2500 I saw was a lower trim package and did not have dual exhaust like the 1500 does. I hope that this changes on the Laramie but if not I wait for aftermarket.

You can run the front tires down to 60 lb. and the rear 55 lb. with no load. You should have an owners manual from the tire manufacture with will give you an out line on tire pressures
