Red face 2010 Sub

Hello

I have the 2010 Crew with the alpine sub. I am going to be replacing the sub with aftermarket. I have some questions that someone may be able to answer.

1)Alot of sub boxes I have seen say that the quad cab sub box fits into the crew cab area. Is this true ?

2)I really like the thunderform boxes, other than a fiberglass. What is the best type?

3) I am thinking of porting the boxes, whatever I choose through a drilled port through the lower floor molding, roughly 1.5 inches to 2" hole for sound. A friend did this in a older chev and it sounded awesome. Of course I will consult a speaker guy to get exact sizing. Any comments?

4) Is there anyone building fiberglass sub boxes?

I have these questions because I see boxes ranging from $100-$500 and will probably order off the internet. There isn't alot of info out right now on the crew cabs. I hate to buy garbage and more isn't always better. Even better, any recomendations in Canada. Anyone willing to build one for me?

Thanks

Word on another forum is that boxes for our trucks from FoxAcoustics.com are the shiznit.

They don't have many models listed right now, but apparently, they make a bunch of different ones, they are just behind on production right now. And when they get behind on specific boxes, they take them off the website.

This is from Fox Acoustics

DQC-112-S
THIS ENCLOSURE FITS DODGE QUAD CAB AND CREW CAB TRUCKS FROM 2002-2009
IT DOES NOT FIT THE MEGA CAB..
FOLD FLAT STORAGE DECKS MUST BE REMOVED.
INTERNAL AIR VOLUME: 1.3 CUBIC FEET
TUNE FREQUENCY: N/A
DIVIDED: N/A
SUB SIZE: 12"
HOLE SIZE: 11.125"
MOUNTING DEPTH: 7.75" W/ 6 INCH DIAMETER MAGNET
5/8" SEAT SPACER KIT AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ARE INCLUDED.

It goes for $140 USD and as Stuart mentioned, they are behind on production so it's not available right now. That's the sale price he had it at in November. (list was $180). This box has the most air space I have seen @ 1.3 cubic feet. others on the net are .69 cubic feet.

This is what I will be installing in the spring with a JL 12W6

And what good is a post without pics??

I didn't think that it would fit in the crew cab but I went outside and looked and my truck. That's when I noticed that the reason it looked different to me is that they removed those covers on top of the compartment.

It's a nice looking box.

Finally made the jump. Went with 2 JL 10W3V3 and 2 Alpine MRPM 500 in a custom box, remote gain control, and lockpic. It should pound. My appointment is Tuesday. I am back in town Monday, I will post pics as well as the rest I have to date.

Is this is a drop-in replacement for the sub that comes in the stock Alpine (REN) system?

No cutting of wires required or anything like that to do the swap?

I am not aware of any direct replacement for the alpine sub/amp.
You will need to cut wire up a new amp...
