Default Cheap mod 2!!

OK this is not my own idea (thanks BmpnKota) but it looks to be legit and will be doing it to my TB when it gets warm enough.
first do you see the walls around the butterfly valves?, you can see them in this pic

and this pic

I'm not sure how many of you have heard of or done this, but I did it Saturday and I really noticed a difference afterwards. And its very cheap and easy to do.
These cause a lot of restriction. Also in between the two valves is a divider. It's an hour glass shape and flat on top, which is also a lot of restriction.
So I took a dremel
with some cut off wheels and removed the walls. You can see in the first picture above I had already cut one of them off. Once I got them all off, I moved to the grinding bit and got them completely flat and smoothed in the edges around the valves to make them more rounded in. Then, using the same grinding bit, I made the divider in the middle come to a point, instead of being flat on the top.
Once that was done, i took some emery cloth and sanded everything really smooth and rounded by hand.

Then finally, with some MOTHER'S Mag and Aluminum polish, I went over the whole thing several times until it was really smooth and polished.
This is the finished product...

The first time i gave it WOT it HOWLED!! and I immediately noticed a difference. It has better throttle response, more torque, and better top end.
Again wanted to thank BmpnKota for this cool and cheap mod..

So you just removed all the walls around the valves and grinded it smooth? I'm not a mechanic, but I would speculate the walls are there for some sort of reason. Anyone else? But then again if it works, kudos to you.

Looks great and nice walk through. The walls i believe are there to help seperate the air to give equall amount of air flow to both chambers...I think. Im not sure on how with the walls gone it will effect the rest of the motor. Great if your getting better performance and all. Im just a little unsure of doing this myself.

I actually read through probably 20 pages from the original post and it was unanimous with everybody who has done this. they all claim the same exact outcome which is quicker throttle response as well as more torque, and better top end. but not one single response from anybody who tried it and had any trouble afterwords. All I know is i will be doing this in the next couple of weeks when it warms up a little and I have some spare time.

I see the immediate results, I guess i'm just unaware of the long term affects on the rest of the motor, like Bones said. I'm not completely convinced yet.

I have not done this mod yet but originally posted in 2005 and was still going strong a couple of days ago, members are returning after a couple of years stating that they have had no ill effects from this mod, only that it works. I understand the skepticism on this and understand not wanting to be the Guinea pig for this so in a few weeks if no one returns after trying it then when I do it I will post results. Cool beans!!

Drag raced carbs have the same mod . I believe it increases the air flow by removing the air horn . Did a nice job . Looks great . Rep points for that .

Yup Toms that's pretty much all you are doing, that and the CAI and really helps air flow. Not like a turbo charger LOL but any increase will help. Now where did I put those headers and duel exhaust?

You can also trim some in the intake manifold too, if your doing the pleneum repair. or get a spare one. I am hopefully going to do both this summer.
