That was a funny story, reminds me of having to wait several hours on a job offshore where we were doing a plug and abandon on an old wellhead, had to wait forever while everyone did a "sea turtle" check before we could set the charges to perforate the well and plug it with cement. Don't get me wrong, I am for the ethical treatment of animals, but some of these folks go way overboard and like Cd, I like vegetables, too, but gotta have my babyback ribs!!!

Wow, actually having to check for sea turtles before perfing? I'm trying to figure out why you'd have to check, the perf and plug are downhole? Was it for the famous "just incase it's a surface det by accident?" That's a first for me. The worst we do is shut down the non-essential work in the Zama area once the cariboo start moving through.

Yeah, YOU know it's downhole work and I know it's downhole work, but try explaining that to PETA, GreenPeace etc. while they circle your vessel like sharks just waiting to catch you doing something "un-ethical," but yes, in the event something had gone wrong, we had to wait to make sure all of the animal critters that man and his drilling have "endangered" were out of harm's way, and my company was more than willing to oblige.

I like how we have to bend over backwards when they show up on site. I'm still fuming over losing a whole day of a turnaround when Greenpeace stormed the gates at Shell Upgrader in Edmonton. Bear in mind, all of them arrived in 3 SUVs... the most economical vehicle out there... to protest the production and refinement of fossil fuels...
