Default Oil filter help

my oil filter is completely destroyed pretty much to the point where all you see is what threads into the block i guess youd say i was wondering is there a way to remove the threaded rod the oil filter treads to, like a hex nut and if so what else comes with it (also any way to get the oil filter off i tried the screw driver and it just ripped it apart)

If the steel ring that reside next to the block is still there, there is still hope.. you may be at the point you need a hammer and a chissel

Try something like this and get it as close to the block as possible. These aren't expensive and can be had at most parts stores.

this happened to me a few changes ago,had to tear the fliter completly apart i was using a hammer, punch set and vise grips.if you can bend the lip of the base of the fliter you could get the vise grips a may be able to unscrew it that way,or just keep working on that chisel, make sure not to dick up the holes on the block and if you can lift the front end up on some jack stands, it'll give you more room to swear loudly... good luck, let us know how it goes.

If you can get a set of filter pliers in there, that may be what you need. Grip the filter near the boss, hold tight and spin. Another method includes carefully inserting a long shaft screwdriver through the filter and use the handle as leverage to spin it off.
