Default Engine/Tranny Question!

A friend of mine just bought a 2005 Single cab HEMI. He's been asking me if there's any way to convert it into a standard shift. So my question is: Does anyone know if Dodge makes a standard shift transmission that will bolt up to a 2005 5.7L?? If so, then why aren't they available in the trucks from the manufacturer? Any known problems of doing this?

Any help is appreciated.

by standard shift, do you mean manual transmission? if so, they never actually made a manual trans for the 5.7 rams. though they say the 4.7 trans will bolt up. here is a link to a thread about this. and i posted a link to a company that makes a trans conversion kit for the 5.7 jeeps. so could probably get it to bolt up in the ram with a little modification.

Yes I mean a manual transmission. Just a habit for me calling it a standard shift. That's what I told him is that the 4.7's are available with a manual tranny and maybe something from a 3/4 ton truck might would work. Not sure about that though, what size is the HEMI in the 2500?

I'm a little confused here on this...Back in 03 when I bought the Ram I had before this one, I was trying to choose between the one I bought (03 RC 4.7 auto SLT) and an 03 RC 4x4 hemi manual ST model. I know Im not dreaming this, there was a manual tranny on the 4x4 and thats why we didnt get it, my wife hates driving a stick. Were they only available in 03??

I know the bolt patterns are the same for the 4.7 and the 5.7 and that there are a couple of manuals out there.

I didn't know that they made a 5.7L with a manual transmission in a 1/2 ton pickup. So, the 4.7 and the 5.7 both have the same tranny bolt pattern? So it should work? I know it's not that simple, but as far as just the transmission it should bolt up fine?

I thought they had trouble making a manual transmission for the HEMI. Didnt they just come out with one this year or last? In the challenger
