Default Potential Ram Owner Looking for Answers and Advice

Hi this is my first post on this forum and it looks like there is a lot of infor to be had here. I am considering the purchase of a new 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab SLT with the 5.7 Hemi and I have a ton of questions!

1. Price!!!! I have been on the look out for a new truck but I am not in a hurry just looking for the best deal. What I found is 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab SLT in Austin Tan or Mineral Gray. They are identical trucks with the 5.7 Hemi, tow package, Uconnect, Bucket seats and the entire SLT package. Sticker was 35k w/ fees and tax the total was around 41k. With discount and rebates and I am being offered this vehicle for $28162.00 out the door right now. Thats an over all savings of almost 12k. Is this a good deal or should I wait. I am in California and 2500 of that is tax.

2. What are the reliability issues with theses trucks. I think this truck is easy to drive and very comfy but they don't get great ratings for reliability.

3. Whats a good source for step bars?

Thanks in advance for the input!!!

Not a 4x4. But its not so nessecary here. I know about the last day of the month but not the tax refund timing. Good info!!! Thanks.

Safety is important. We totaled my wifes Grand Caravan recently. We rolled it on the freeway with the kids and the dogs inside. Fortunately we all walked away. One of our dogs wasn't so lucky though!

Sounds like a good price. Reliability issues? None that I've heard of that were serious. My 2007 4X4 1500 SLT had one technical service bulletin issued on it...one.

This is my first ram and dodge vehicle, mine is only a couple weeks old so I haven't experienced any problems. I can tell you this though, I been wanting a ram truck for a very long time and now that I got one I can honestly say I love everything about it and have no regrets. As far as side steps go I got mine from running board world web site. They have a large selection and fair prices

Just make sure you stick with the maintenance schedule and you'll be fine . No real issues that I know of .

Price wise, most dealers are within a few hundred of each other. I think the biggest thing is find a salesperson that you have a comfort level with, this in the long run will pay back more than saving a dollar today. My last purchase, I can call the salesperson on my way, and my truck will be worked on as soon as I get there. As for issues, my heated seat coil had.to be replaced from factory. Other issues, too much power, truck looks awesome, rides too smooth, and you will make people jealous.

You can check edmunds.com for an invoice price and you can build the truck you want to buy to see a comparison. That price seems pretty good to me though, seems like they are giving you a big discount.

So far, i've had no problems with my truck. As with any vehicle, some have more problems than others and sometimes no problems. Research online for test drive reviews from the auto magazines that do long term test drives. When I was researching to buy my truck, all the reviews were positive for the most part.

I have the dodge stepbars. Depending on what you want when it comes to stepbars, there's a lot of different options. Check autoanything, autotrucktoys, 4wheelparts, leeparts, ebay, any of the mopar parts websites, and the list goes on.
