Default My "Oh Crap" handle made me say "OH CRAP!"

So yesterday i was getting into my truck and went to pull myself in like ive been doing for years and all of a sudden i fell backwards with my "oh crap" handle ripped off from the interior. No i know this as the "oh crap" handle and "oh crap" handle only. What would be the proper name for this and does anybody know of a good place to get it replaced? I would appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Try passenger assist handle. Salvage yards and dealerships are your two best bets.

Ya they are not really made to pull yourself up into the truck at least if you have any meat on your bones at all lol. My uncle has went through 4 of them you'd think he'd learn his lesson. I use the steering wheel for a little leverage then kinda hop up into it.

I found it far more useful and safe to use Rapunzels hair!

And less costly to replace!

Lol, and ouch. sorry to hear that. All they have holding them is 2 10mm bolts which really aren't worth anything. The steering wheel is the best to use, or you could install a set of running boards or a CARR side step to help getting in and out easier so you don't have to haul yourself in.

Yup, been there done that. Get the part from a dealer and swap it out yourself, easy.

LOL...well, it's also known as a "grab handle" and I use mine getting in and out of the truck. But I also have side steps to it's more to keep my balance than to pull myself in. I also use the steering wheel which is a lot more stable and structurally sound.

Well I guess I get to be the stick in the mud, But doesn't using the steering wheel for leverage over time damage the bearings? Or do they not have bearings in the column in certain years/models?.
