Default Keep your trucks!

guys, last year at this time i was having the time of my life in my '97 ram 1500 4x4. 5.9l v8 and everything! i was continuously putting money into it and when it needed a new rear and a bunch of other crap, i was forced to sell my baby! i ended up with a 1998 honda civic coupe, that has needed so much work as well! i could have fixed my truck, lifted it and put new tires on it by now! but i slammed the civic which is weird compared to a huge truck
moral of the story.. keep your damn trucks!

me on the left--->

Haha I went through that stage when I was about 20 I traded in my jacked up tacoma that I put thousands and thousands of dollars into for a Celica GT-S when the new ones first came out. That was fun for about a year then I traded it in for another truck lol. It was fun cause it handled so freaking good compared to a truck but I got real sick of being so low to the ground and not being able to even get outta parking lots without rubbing my bumper or exhaust on the ground lol.

I've gone back and forth over the years. I had a 1980 Chevy C-10, which was the family vehicle. We sold it and bought a Dodge Omni (seating for 4). Didn't have another truck for 5 years, when I got my 88 Dakota. Kept it for 4 years, and traded it for a 92 Camaro. Kept her for a year, got a 93 Ford F-150. Traded it for a 92 F-150 Supercab, kept it for a year or so and traded it for the wife to have a 97 Olds Silhouette minivan. Went a few more years, got a '99 Ford F-150 Supercab (heretofore referred to as the "Steaming Pile of Dung"). Traded it for a Jeep Wrangler, supplemented with a Chevy S-10 (Little truck, but rock-solid! Square S-10's are awesome.) Got rid of both, got my 04 RX8, and last year got my current 08 Ram. I'd say I'm keeping my Ram, but you just never know. Something else will tickle my fancy, I'm sure.

Of course, the difference now is I also have two sports cars to keep me happy (and to deter my straying from trucks).

Most, if not all, of my truck purchases have been wants, not out of any need. Any time I needed a truck and didn't own one, I was able to get one, hell even U-Haul rents 'em (pickups) now.

My first truck was a tacoma that I leased because I couldn't afford to buy one. Then I got a hyundai elantra because I was trying to save money as I didn't have a good job. Going from a truck that gives you the freedom to do whatever you need to, to a small car is a big change. Now that I have the Ram, I can go to the hardware store, work on the house, go to the trash dump. Pretty much whatever. And if a hurricane comes, no flooded streets to worry about.
