Well they are going to have to do something, because i dought the new bumpers are any better, so they may as well give me something that they know won't rust.

Default Bumper's Rusting

Hey guys just thought I'd share something.

My old 2004 SLT Crome bumper had the same problem.
My new 2009 SLT crome bumper = rusty!! I'm pretty picky about cleaning my truck. it gets washed quite frequently.

I work for a company that has 90% Dodge Ram's as fleet vehicles. Saw this post and I thought I'd go do a random survey of the fleet.

I picked a good day. Most of the guys were in the office today for a meeting and there was at least 25 Ram's in the parking lot. 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 (1500, 2500) models you name a year of a dodge ram it was there.

100% of them had a rusty crome bumper

I was thinking of taking a picture and send it Chrysler. Think it's safe to say that the Crome used is not top quality.

If you have an SLT crome bumper i suggest stock up on the Mother's polish and keep the crome shinny and clean cuz it's gonna rust no matter what.

Hello from Germany,

over here we are having a very bad winter with lots of salt on the streets. My front and rear bumpers are rusting like crazy. But not only the bumpers, the grille too! And it's only plastic...

I added some pictures.

Very poor quality.

What can you do?

I plan on swapping my chrome bumpers out for the painted and talked to the paint shop i use, they said they can use a paint that has a flex material in it that will help it from chipping and rusting like that, its not bullet proof but neither is powdercoat. maybe you can get it repainted after it gets too bad, and get a paint like the flex stuff put in to it.
