Default Limited slip

I have a 2003 Ram 2500 with limited slip, bought in new. It does not seem to work. Having one tire on ice and the other on black top, I would think the limited slip would do something to engage the tire on the black top to move the truck forward. It just spun. Tried different rpms, nothing worked until I shifted into 4 wheel drive.

The Dodge dealer did a test and it worked the same way - one spinning tire and no forward movement.

They replaced the limited slip and we still have the same problem.

Is this the way the limited slip is suppose to work?

My GMC did not work that way. The tire that was starting to spin, locked up and made the other tire turn. Mormally moving the truck forward.

Hope for some help.

Thats not making to much sense to me. It should have engaged the other wheel? Why did they replace the old one? Sorry welcome to the forumz . I hope you can get more ideas and advice from someone whos had this problem.

Welcome to the Z! For the limited slip, to my knowledge it would kick it as soon as the other wheel loses traction based on momentum change in the rear diff, so I'm wondering if it's electronically controlled since it kicks in during 4x4. I don't think it is, and I hope someone comes along and gives you an answer soon
