Default How hot do your stacks get?

Was wondering how hot anyones stacks get. Wanted to get them but really don't want to give up my tonneau. Wanted to route them up through the tonneau somehow. I see people that run their stack outside the bed just to save their cover but I think it's ugly as hell. I was thinking if making a gasket/seal out of a poly plastic or something that would withstand some heat.

I don't know about stack, however, my Pyro has seen temps above 1,000F But that is before the turbo.

Not sure how much heat would dissapate(sp?) before stacks in the bed.

I have to disagree, I've seen some stacks that have actually started to discolor due to the extremely high EGTs that were being pushed through. Those were all highly modified though and pushing over 80psi boost with EGTs around 1300-1400*F. I think for a general use close-to-stock motor you'd be fine, but if you're planning on any major mods, you'd have to look at something else.

I agree with CdnoilRam, Unless your Cummins is "built" i wouldn't worry too much about the heat melting the cover. I also wouldn't recommend having the cover touch it but like in those pictures above i am sure work just fine.

The setup on that second truck looks sweet.

Like the others said, a stock engine shouldn't give you any problems. I would leave a gap of about 1 inch just to be on the safe side.
