Default Replacement Headlamp bulbs

I've been trying to educate myself on replacement headlamp bulbs and I've run into a question I can't seem to find the answer to.

I've decided not to go into the HID arena just yet, however, I want to replace the factory H11 and 9005 headlamp bulbs on my 2010 quad-headlamp system with "better" bulbs.

I've found a set of VisionX VX-HH11 bulbs to replace the H11 low beams bulbs but they're 80W as opposed to the factory 55W. Does anyone see a problem with this? I'm fairly versed in electrical/electronics and the problem I'm concerned with is the factory wiring. Drawing an extra 25W on DC through automotive wiring doesn't make me all that warm and fuzzy.

Should I stick with a correct 55W set that is whiter - perhaps the Osram or Silverstars?

TIA
Paul

If you do a forum "search" for silverstar, you should get a bunch of threads. It's a hot topic here.

just put silverstars in my truck this morning.......THEY SUCK!!!!!

I had the original bulbs that were put in my truck November of 2004....they were brighter than the new ones.

If you don't want to dump all that money into HID's right now look into a conversion kit, would be a better investment than spending $50 on silverstars.

just my opinion

Interesting feedback so far. There are those that swear by them and now one (so far) that doesn't....

I've now read up on the PIAAs (H11 and 9005) Extreme White Plus and the MTEC Ion Yellow H10/9145 for the fogs. I think I may see what the scoop is with those.

At this point, I'll take all the feedback I can so I can make a proper decision. I don't mind putting out the money for something that will last a little longer than it appears the Silverstars do.
