For LCD I go with Sony and for plasma I'd go with Panasonic. Also, spend the extra money and get something of quality, rather than something simply big. For Sony it's only worth it to go with the XBR series, and Panasonic is best viewed at G series and up.

I've had my 46" Vizio for 3 years now and I've been quite happy with it. I'm sure there are some with overall better pictures, but in it's price class, I sure couldn't find one. I've never had one ounce of trouble from this TV since day one (I could only wish to be able to say that about the 2 previous Sony TV's I had), it works great with my Blu-Ray player, DirecTV HD DVR, and the weakest link of my home entertainment system, my Bose 1-2-3 system (I hate this system-I wish it would just die so I could get something better).

One piece of advice I would give is no matter what TV you ultimately decide on, in the end I strongly endorse complimenting your system with a Logitech Harmony programmable remote. That little remote is the single greatest addition to my system!

I learned a long time ago that cheap tv's are not really the way to go. I've been pretty loyal to Sony tv's because they've never failed me. I've still got an old 32" sony tube tv in my bedroom that's at least 8 years old and stills works as good as the day i bought it. Weighs about 200 lbs though lol. I did have a 42" sony grand wega rear lcd projector tv that after almost 3 years started to go out on me so I called Sony up and they told me it was a known problem and even though it was out of warranty they would either fix it for free or upgrade me to a 46" bravia lcd tv for $225. I looked up the model they offered me and it's an almost $2,000 tv so I took the upgrade lol. After that kind of customer service I'll keep paying a little more for their products. I wouldn't be afraid of a samsung or panasonic product either though.

Ain't Craigslist grand? Once you get past all the scams and such, it's a heckuva tool. I think you've narrowed it down to two great brands that are reasonably priced (especially Vizio - price wise). I doubt you could go wrong with either.

Which model Grand Wega do you have? I have a 50", that the screen has basically started to turn blue on, and from what I've read, Sony won't fix it because it's a 2003 model. This just fuels my disdain for Sony. I must be an anomaly, since I know lots of folks who own and love Sony products. Nearly every thing I've owned Sony has failed on me prematurely.
Maybe I'm just ham-fisted.
