yeah Its all a preference thing and I agree, can be a handy tool lol especially road trips with a buddy and if your ever stranded, or something could come in handy

Here is how I have mine mounted in a 4th Gen. It didn't require drilling any holes to mount it, and something similar could be done in any vehicle. I just sandwiched the mount between the seat bracket and floor, and torqued it down.

I just had a scrap piece of metal laying around that seemed to be close to the right size. I cut a couple inches off the length, then rounded the edges with a grinder. Stuck it in the vise between two blocks of wood, and bent it over to get the rounded bend. Then a couple coats of hammered black paint and it was done. Cost me about $3 for paint and about 30 minutes of time to make it.

thats how i mounted mine in my 2nd gen ram, came up with my own brackets, and its a really good spot in my opinion, is that a midland radio?
