Default I need help please!

My 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 has an issue. I think it may be fuel related but I thought I would ask. When I first drive it drives fine. about 5 kms in it feels like it's choking and I lose speed dramitically until I can go no faster then 30-40km. It also stalled out once when it came to a red light. It also started losing power a week ago at night when slowing for a light. Is it fuel pump/Filter? Filter in tank or on frame rail? I think tank because I can't find it....Thank you

sounds very similar to my old '96 Ram. It had a failing Fuel Pump, which is located inside of the tank. It would be hard to start and keep running some times until I replaced it. Hopefully some others will pop in with some other advice or views.

Start with cleaning the throttle body and all associated sensors. Its a whole lot easier than getting to the pump and filter which are in the tank.

get a fuel pressure test done, will let you know if the pump is bad

do you have any inline fuel filters ? have you checked them?

Thanks all every tip is helpful. It has 200km so I think that is 120 in miles. Checked for inline filters and doesn't look like there in there. Dropping the tank isn't worst case scenario because I just dropped it in the summer so it'll be easy. Just would like to be sure it is the pump/filter before I replace it.

Theres a fuel pressure service port on the fuel rail . Install a fuel pressure guage . Start it up and observe . You should have roughly 40 - 45 psi of fuel pressure . Rev it up and hold it and make sure it retains that much if not more . If it doesn't it could be a bad fuel pump or pressure regulator . Let us know what you come up with .

I'm gonna go a different route. Have you checked that your CAT isn't clogged and falling apart? That was a common problem in 2ndg gens and if it has 120K it must be pretty far gone.
