Default 09 sport burning oil already???

Hey everyone, got an 09 hemi sport quad cab and the last couple times i got an oil change its been half a quart to a full quart low on oil. Its got 24k miles on it. anyone else having this problem? i went to the shop and looked under it and no oil leaks anywhere. clean as a whistle. Im taking it in tomorrow to the dealer to have it looked over and have a compression test done.

its a hemi thing... on my 09 it was down a litre at my first oil change. my 03 was the same every oil change it was down at least a litre. theres about 10 or so hemi's that have all there service done at the shop i goto and they are all the same. i dont know what it is but they seem to burn it up especially if you drive it like you own it

I believe this is somewhat normal to be honest. However a quart is a lot of oil. I read that oil consumption with no signs of leaking is normal because it will lubricate piston rings and then burn up in the combustion chamber.

Are you making sure the level is to the top of the fill line on the stick after each oil change and then checking it right before the next service?

You need a catch can. Its the little tube that goes into you air intake. it allows oil to recurculate into the motor and it is horrible. Run a can of SeaFoam throught the break booster and you will have a lot more power... get a catch can, i think diablo sport has one...

Anyone that played w/ 5.0L Mustangs in the late 80's is used to this. Lighter ring set yields a little more oil consumption and gives a 120k motor that still shows crosshatch on the cylinder bore and can be re-ringed and fresh bearings and go for another 120K. Just keep a regular check on it. Little extra regular maintenance makes for a LONG life.

Well the dealer said 1 qt of oil per 4k miles is within spec. I think its a bit much but what can you do.
