Default Not A lot of heat....

Hey guys i have a 97 ram sport... the truck his heating up to the normal temps. But when i turn on the heater in the car i am barely getting any heat. Just enough to make it kinda comfortable. is this a heater core or could it be something else??? Thanks in advance...

Even with a low temp stat, you should still get sufficient heat. A stuck open/broken stat would be slow to heat up but you'd still get heat eventually. You can try flushing the system but the problem could also be insufficient flow from the water pump. I had a '97 in the shop two days ago with the same issue and the problem was the water pump.

I kinda wonder now if that isn't the issue with alot of these trucks not getting enough heat . Aftermarket waterpumps ? My truck has started getting noisy this week . Sounds like the water pump is going . I might go with the aftermarket pump and see what it does . I will post my results .

Let us know what ya figure out.Ive been having multiple problems like the ones listed.First I was getting any engine heat to a decent level.Changed thermostat last week at work and wola, engine temp goes up, then settles down after its warm.Well after the replacement I started hearing a sqeak from up front, not a loud one just an annoying constant sqeak.Im guessing its from the water pump, not sure when last changed, truck has 180k + on it.I still have low heat, much warmer than it was before the thermostat replacement just not crazy hot like my past 2 dodges in same year range I owned.
