Default Grille Painting

Just wondering if anyone has any experience on painting Grille Inserts, since I'm planning on blacking out the entire truck, but want something different for the grill, possibly painting a Texas flag on the stock black-honeycomb grille on the truck, and curious how it'd turn out. Anyone know anything?

Just experiment. If it doesn't look good you can just paint it again.

I painted mine. Haven't looked close at it recently though to see if peeling or not.

You're totally right about the repainting. Sounds like a fun project anyway. What's a good spray paint to use that'll survive the highway, etc.

I used the spray can body match colors you get at the auto parts store. I used a chrome spray for the base 2 coats, then did body color about 4 coats.

Is that how it looks metallic blue? Chrome undercoats, wouldn't have thought of it myself.

I like the Texas flag idea. I almost did it on my old Dodge, but I was too afraid I was going to mess it up. Let me know how it works.

I had the black grill with the chrome inserts. I used VHT to tint my lights and had some left over. I decided to try it on chrome. So far so good. It seems to be staying on just fine. I did the grill emblem first to try it out. Then proceeded to the inserts. Scuffed the area down i wanted to do , cleaned it up then applied the VHT. Sorry its not the greatest pic.

I think it would look interesting. Like this but with the Texas flag.

How tedious is it to VHT the headlights? I did the taillights, but all I had was "Lens Tint" spray AutoZone had. They didn't have any VHT on stock. Turned out alright, but definately could have been better.
