Default 6" lift, 35" tires.. Should i?

OK for the longest time I've wanted to lift my truck.. But money has been an issue. Now I'm to the point were i am able to do this if i wanted to. But my issue is do i want to spend a lot of money on my truck, or buy a newer one. Here are all the specs and info!

My truck is a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500, SLT 2wd. It has about 91,500 miles on it and it has the 4.7L V8.

There are some mechanical problems that need to also be repaired. (Front seal leak, Radiator leak, left turning knuckle, and tranny seal) all about $1800 total. But only the first 2 need to be done as soon as possible.

Work that i want to get done on it

All around spending $4500 just for upgrades.

Im asking if you think its worth it to keep my truck and keep her going and modded up. Or settle for a stock newer car or truck.

Please let me know what you think, i want to do something this month.

which way would you be happiest? newer truck stock or big cool looking lifted truck?
you need to fix all the problems first! have you looked at newer ones or even the same year with lower miles and already lifted.its a really tuff decision!!! good luck!!!

Man, that's a tough call. Just my opinion, and yours is the only one that counts, but I wouldn't want a lifted truck unless it was a 4X4. I like 2X4's lowered. Looks like the Rough Country kit comes with a three-inch block for the back. Once you remove the leveling kit you now have, and install the new front six-inch spring, you'll still only be sitting three inches higher than you are right now. Something else you might consider is that your 4.7 engine is gonna struggle a bit more to turn those 35's over. This effect will be even more noticable if your truck has a high geared rear end. Now could be a good time to trade for a newer truck before yours turns over 100K miles. You've really got lots of miles left in your truck, but the 100K thing will hurt its resale/trade-in value.

I'd have to agree with 2nd Ram on the 4x4 and 4.7L not making enough power. I'd recommend a newer truck, or a similar year truck with a 5.9L cummins

This is really a preference. If you want a unique vehicle thats your own or get a new every one has vehicle.

i do have to agree with Cdnoil if you had the 5.7L then i would say keep it but the 4.7L dosn't quite cut it in my books. If you have the money to buy new then why not get a mroe powerful one. If you are happy with the power your truck has then keep it and make it your own

I'm not sure I'd do the lift and 35's . I've heard alot of complaints about not enough power and trans downshifting all the time . If your sure you want to do it . I would recommend regearing the truck for the tire size .
