i went to a radio install site for '09 RAM, the guy had to pull both glove boxes out & this is what he said, the post above was correct

removed the upper and lower glove boxes. The lower glove-box pulls right out, simply push in the sides of the box and pull down to remove it. With the lower box out you can see a single screw inside the dash holding the upper glove box tight. Once the upper box screw is removed, you can pop the top box right out

Why does Chrysler bother putting that usesless gap there. Does it really cost any more to put the same glove-box in that they put on the majority of these trucks? They went out of their way to design and manufacture a gap without a glove-box door on it so that the more expensive versions looked like you get more "extras".

Then again, you could always keep that big open gap and use it to hold a few Big Macs. If you are trying to eat healthy a nice row of apples would fit in nicely too!

My '09 STL 5.7 has doors on both glove compartments but no lights in both compartments.
Where can I get lights?
Thanks,
Jack

The wiring for the upper box is most likely already installed. Check the upper left-hand corner. Dodge makes an incandescent bulb kit that just plugs in. It's not bright enough, IMO.

I added light to my lower box (and plan to splice in to add one to the upper box eventually). You can find pics and steps here in the following thread - http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=44080

It definitely makes a difference and is worth doing, IMHO. Good luck.

I did some checking with my parts guys and it appears this can be done. There are several part numbers for the box and door, presumably based on trim color. Tell the parts guys to check section 050 - Interior Trim 1705 - Instrument Panel and Structure for a picture and part numbers. They should be able to locate any applicable wiring in the electrical section.

Default Glove box light

For those who are wanting to put in a glove box light do not bother to look for the wiring it is not there trust me i just purchased a light kit from Dodge for my 2009 and installed the light in the upper glove box after looking for the wire that dodge may have tucked away its not there anywhere i just made my own harness and spliced into my 12 volt accessory wire

Default Upper glove box 09 Ram

I own an 09 Ram 1500 ST and added the upper glove box. You need to order the glove box door, glove box, and there are 4 screws that secure the glove box door and the glove box snaps in and has 1 screw on lower left side to secure. You need to take lower glove box out. The only piece I am having a hard time finding is the lstriker used to hold the door closed. I think it might be part of the "reinforcement beam" which is integrated into the dash. I bought a striker for the lower glove box and modified it for the upper glove box and it seems to be working. This Moper website has been very helpful to me. http://www.moparpartsamerica.com/ and the parts are much less than the dealer. They are genuine MOPAR parts. Glove box is list $49.20 and your cost is $34.52, Door lsits $160 your cost $111.30 and the striker is list $9.70 your cost $6.79 plus shipping. You can get screws at local hardware store..Good luck

i'm curious about the differences in glove box design
is it just the 4X4 models that are missing the upper glove box doors ?
