Default Quiet an exhaust

Just put on a flowmaster 40 series and i have it dumped right after the muffler. Is there anyway to quiet it down? Would putting a turndown on quiet it?

You can try running a tail pipe to the rear of the truck but I wouldn't expect a huge change.

What length flowmaster did you go with? The only way I know to quiet down the exhaust is to put a longer muffler on it. Running it our past the fenders/bumper will help a little but don't expect a huge difference like Randy said.

Extend the pipe but you will still have a lot of noise coming from the muffler itself...but you can attenuate that with a resonator.

run it out the back or change the muffler. I vote for running it out back.

Why do you want to quiet it down? You old or something?

A turndown would just make it deeper and seem louder, cause the sound would reverb between the ground and the bed, it sounds better with a turndown IMO. A tailpipe wont quiet it down to much it just reroutes the sound from under the truck to out the back so you wont hear it as much. Its like cranking a badass stereo in a small bedroom, then taking the same stereo to a football stadium. Same sound level is there just alot more room for it to move around.
